More points for Pinky; First points for Noble; First points for Vegas

Pinky, Hawks Nest Tollin' With a Twist, owned by Carolyn Kurth & Rochelle Kurth, Handled by Carolyn Kurth, went WB a third time for another point. This puts her at 3 points by 7 months. It would have been five, but the points broke twice. Pinky is out our Daphne, Sired by NSDTRC/AKC CH PortStar's Thundering Triumph US/Can WC.

Noble, Hawks Nest Divine Providence, Owned by Sally Parr & Rochelle Kurth, went WD twice for 2 points over an older male. Noble is the US living with Rochelle Kurth for only 6 more months, then is heading to England to live with Sally Parr, Kymin Kennels. Noble is also out of our Daphne, Sired by NSDRTC/US CH PortStar's Thundering Triumph US/Can WC.

Vegas, Hawks Nest Saranac Roll of the Dice, went WB/BOW over a 6 year old, group winning male from Canada for her first two points! Vegas is owned and handled by Joy Annunziato, Bred by Rochelle Kurth. Vegas is also out of our Daphne, Sired by NSDTRC/AKC CH PortStar's Thundering Triumph US/Can WC.

Allie, the fourth puppy in the litter, has numerous reserves from the bred by class and a best bred by in breed. Theres no doubt in my mind that she'll get her first points soon! She is also out of our Daphne, Sired by NSDTRC/AKC CH PortStar's Thundering Triumph US/Can WC.

All four puppies in addition to kicking butt in the show ring, are working in other venus as well! Pinky and Vegas are ready for their WC, and Noble and Allie are almost ready for the WC, with Allie being almost ready for her RN too!

New Rally Excellent and Group Placement for Daphne

On June 17th, 2011, Daphne was awarded a BOB out of 12(5 specials). And on June 19th, 2011, Daphne was awarded Best of Breed out of 13(6 specials) and then went on to win a group three!! Daphne is the first toller bitch to place in groups in New England in quite a few years, and both BOB wins were over top 5/top 10 dogs. And this is just 6 months after weaning her babies. Daphne is owner/handled by Rochelle Kurth, Hawks Nest Kennels.

On July 9th, 2011, Daphne completed her Rally Exellent title. This is after a 2 year break from the rally ring. Each leg was completed with a 2nd place, and in three straight trials. At one of these trials, Daphne passed her first CD leg, also with a 2nd place!(1/2 point shy of first!) She has not been in obedience since, but we plan to finish that title up in the near future.

Daphne pictured above with her three large BOB wins, her Rally rosettes, and her group three. Our goal for the second half of the year is to finish the CD and finally get to a WC test(and pass that!) so that she can complete her NSDTRC Rusty Jones Award.

National Specialty Select Bitch and New Grand Champion

A lot has happened since my last post in July. Our first time back in the show ring was a success, walking away with a Best of breed, giving us a 5 point grand major and a win over another champion. Our second time in the ring, we walked away with a Best of Opposite and 3 point grand champion major the first day. The second day we were awarded another Best of Breed for our second 5 point major and win over specials, putting us at 13 points, 2 wins over champions, and all majors. Our next two shows we were awarded multiple Best of Opposite wins for singles putting us at 21 points, needing only 4 singles and a win over specail.

On September 24th, Daphne was awarded Select bitch at the NSDTRC National specialty for a 5 point major and win over specials to finish her grand championship! What a way to finish! Daphne is the 10th NSDTR and the 4th NSDTR Bitch to complete this title, and we recived an AKC Special Award Medallion for it.

On October 7th, a week after we got home from the national, Daphne was entered in the Morris and Essax Dog show, held one day in october every 5 years. Out of a strong lineup of bitches which included the #2 bitch/#4 dog, daphne was awarded Best of Opposite for another grand champion major.

Daphne has not shown in almost 5 months, and was tied for #11 for the Grand Champion Statistics for 2010, and remains in the Top 15 Grand Champion Points Statistics for lifetime points, listed on the AKC.

New Junior Hunter Title!!

I'm so proud to say that Daphne can finally add JH to her name. She passed her last test on July 4th, 2010 with ease, even in the terrible heat. She has been trained completely by me, I was very stubborn about it!! Every judge, pass or fail, commented on how much they love her drive.

Daphne is now NSDTRC/AKC/UKC CH Cedar Fog's Red Tornado RA JH VC CGC can WC.

I'm proud to say that Daphne, NSDTRC/AKC/UKC CH Cedar Fog's Red Tornado RA WC(Can)VC CGC, was awarded back-to-back Best of Opposite Sex at the NESGA(New England Sporting Group Association) shows in March '10. Saturday, the supported entry, had an entry of 26, and sunday an entry of 25. This was our last show before the litter, so i'm proud to say we went out with a bang!

I'm also proud to say that daphne has been published again! This time in DogSport Magazine. Other magazines she has been in are Dogs In Canada and AKC Family dog. She has also been published in a book as well - AKC's Citizen Canine.

Now it's time for a JH test or two before the litter! I can't wait! First one is in april at Labrador Retriever Club of Greater Boston Spring Hunt Test on the 24th!

Daphne's 2009 Year

2009 is almost gone! Boy did it go by fast! It seems like only yesterday she won at westminster, which started her specialing for 2009. Daphne is more than a pretty face though. Along the way she received her Canadian Working Certificate and her NSDTR Club Championship. We competed once in agility(also in Canada) and took home a first place and qualification. She was entered in more, but we ended up missing half of them because we were in the show ring, and knocked bars on the others. She's too darn fast for me!!
